PROFIN is constantly working to improve the financial conditions of the productive sector, which is why throughout our existence, we have been implementing projects that benefit the productive sector.
Inclusive Markets Project
The Inclusive Markets project sought to improve the living conditions of men and women who carry out agricultural, livestock or other activities in Family Productive Units, and who are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and food insecurity. The territories of Altiplano, Valles Cruceños, Chiquitanía and North of La Paz were prioritized.
The project was developed in 6 components: Product Markets, Services, Inputs and Technologies, Inclusive Public Management, Women’s Empowerment, Communication and Knowledge Management and Financial Services and Products, the latter implemented by PROFIN through actions of Financial Education, Access to Credit and Savings and Inclusive Insurance.
Funding: Swiss Cooperation COSUDE – Swedish Cooperation ASDI
Implementation: SwissContact
Guarantee Fund Project
The Guarantee Fund project promoted the articulation of the Guarantee Fund/ Reassurance Fund to improve the financial inclusion of Family Productive Units and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), contributing to the reduction of poverty and inequalities among vulnerable populations in Bolivia. The target population prioritized by the project were the most vulnerable sectors such as women, youth and older adults, who carry out their activities in the economic sectors of production, trade and/or services.
The Guarantee Fund is a mechanism designed to mitigate the risk of non-payment and encourage the granting of credits to small producers and entrepreneurs who are in a first level of financing needs. Its main objective is to increase the confidence of financial intermediation entities to lend to this segment, which, for the most part, lacks traditional guarantees.
Funding: Swedish Cooperation ASDI
Inclusive Insurance Project
The Inclusive Insurance Project aimed to ensure that a greater number of people are protected by insurance according to their needs.
As part of the poverty reduction strategy of the Swiss Cooperation in Bolivia COSUDE, it worked to increase the resilience of the urban and peri-urban population, facilitating the access of the Bolivian population to financial services such as inclusive insurance. The project was developed in 3 phases: First from 2012 to 2015, Second from 2016 – 2020 and the Third 2020 – 2022.
The last phase, Closing, focused on the consolidation of the developed products, the design of new insurance alternatives and lobbying actions with the regulatory body, among others.
